Weather Control: It Could be Possible to Stop Hurricanes with Supersonic Jets

So let's say that this would actually work.  Am I the only one that thinks that there may be a side effect we don't know about?  I mean these massive storms churn up the water they pass over, not to mention the land impacts.  Stopping them might not be the best idea...

    Are you kidding me?

WTF is this crap???  The RIAA is trying to say that if I buy a cd and then rip that disc to mp3...you know...say for use on my own mp3 player...that I am breaking the law.

    From the brief:

"It is undisputed that Defendant possessed unauthorized copies of Plaintiffs' copyrighted sound recordings on his computer ... Virtually all of the sound recordings on Exhibit B are in the ".mp3" format. ... Defendant admitted that he converted these sound recordings from their original format to the .mp3 format for his and his wife's use."

Can't we all just get along?

It's bad enough when we have extremists in the world (of every shade and color, mind you) playing the whole "my God is better than your God game", but at least those views came from the fringe elements...not from the very top.  link

    Fight Back!

If there is any justice in the world, this will be where the pendulum starts to swing back towards common sense.

Exonerated defendant sues RIAA for malicious prosecution

Granted, rampant piracy isn't good for anybody, but personally, I can't count the number of cd's I bought because a friend recommended me something that I later downloaded from Napster.

    Touchy touchy

Seriously?  Have we become this touchy as a society?  Whatever.  Guess what?  I'm not buying any GM cars anytime soon either...you know why?  Because they suck.

GM's Super Bowl robot ad draws criticism - Yahoo! News
But Lisamarie Miller, 39, of Palatine, Ill., said she'll never buy a GM vehicle after seeing the ad online. The member of a the Chicago-area chapter of AFSP found out about it from the foundation — and has been sharing her disgust online as well as with friends, family and co-workers.

    Higher Learning

Seriously, someone thought this was a bright idea???
In general, I think various parties, minorities, gays, lesbians, the right, the left, all have their panties in a twist are way too touchy about being offended...but this is pretty stupid.

Frat suspended over 'Hood' party - Yahoo! News
BALTIMORE - Johns Hopkins University has suspended the Sigma Chi fraternity because of a "Halloween in the Hood" party that drew protests by black students. ADVERTISEMENT The invitation to the party, posted on the Web site Facebook, encouraged guests to wear "regional clothing from our locale" with jewelry including "bling bling ice ice, grills" and "hoochie hoops."

    Rush Rush Rush

This has to constitute a new low of some kind.  Gee...if you had a debilitating disease and certain politicians stood in the way of the most promising avenue of research, do you think you would do whatever you could to help their opponent?  If not for you, then your children?  We're talking about using stem cells that would otherwise be discarded, you ignorant, self-righteous, hypocritical assholes.

Actor Fox sparks debate, support for stem cells - Yahoo! News
"All I'm saying is I've never seen him the way he appears in this commercial for Claire McCaskill," Limbaugh said on his syndicated radio show. "I will apologize to Michael J. Fox, if I am wrong in characterizing his behavior on this commercial as an act."

    Young America

Teen questioned for online Bush threats - Yahoo! News
Upset by the war in Iraq, Julia Wilson vented her frustrations with President Bush last spring on her Web page on MySpace.com. She posted a picture of the president, scrawled "Kill Bush" across the top and drew a dagger stabbing his outstretched hand. She later replaced her page on the social-networking site after learning in her eighth-grade history class that such threats are a federal offense.

    WTF.
Seriously.  At least it's nice to see someone so young actually give a shit about what's going on in the world.  I find it dificult to understand how anyone who is at least vaguely aware of what is going on in the world isn't angry.  Not just angry, but downright furious.

And btw, to the wonderful agents who did the questioning, I'm guessing the agression during the interrogation was the result of having to question someone that looks so threatening...assholes.

The 360 is Microsoft playing Defense?

Next Generation - Interactive Entertainment Today, Video Game and Industry News - ANALYSIS: How Much is Too Much?
Still, he explained his uncertainty. “Remember that Microsoft partly entered the game console business for defensive reasons,” Rosoff said. “The company was concerned that a PlayStation successor would become the default gateway to networked entertainment in the home—Ken Kutaragi promised as much—and cut into consumer PC sales.”

What an interesting concept.  Thought of these terms, and in terms of the declining respect that Sony seems to be giving the average consumer, one can only hope they're in it for the long haul.

    The elephant in the room

So we've all read how the current administration went about denying global warming, doctoring reports that would have supported global warming, and even relabeling it "climate change" to make it sound less scary.  It's a trend that includes the loosening of polluting limits and calling it the Clean Skies Act.  Well anyway, how's this for proof?  link

Government buildings, not precisely known for being frontrunners when it comes to the latest equipment, yet the government buildings in Nunavut (that's northern Canada for the geographically challenged) are now installing air conditioning units.  That's right, A/C is now required in the Arctic.  I can't wait for some dipshit on Fox News to say it's a terrorism-related thing.

    When Engineers Go Bad

Here's another one for the fucktard category.

The State of Washington has it in mind that tailgaiting is bad. So, in an area of heavy congestion, where cars are generally close together during peak hours, they posted signs discouraging tailgaiting. Ok, so far, however misguided, so good.

    Here is their idea.

What complete fucking tool thought this was a good idea???

    This is what happened. link

So...I'm guessing the genius behind this one has a P.E. Just goes to show you that having a Professional Engineer license doesn't mean you're not a complete tool.
